RE: Rescue - a bit over the top???>

I haven't read this entire thread, but just reading the restrictions they put on a potential adoptor, I would be looking elsewhere like the local dog pound or local humane society where you can find great dogs. It makes you wondor why people revert to the internet or local newspaper to get their pets...even pet shops. I personally would never agree to their contract.

I can't blame them, I'd probably be doing the same thing. They are so cute.

RE: Dog anxiety in a car

Pickles always has been extremely anxious riding in any vehicle and we tried meds given to us from our Vet, but we really didn't like what they did to him so we put him in a small crate and secured it in the back seat and he does really well with that. No more meds...YEAH!

RE: Any Pack-Rats out there?

NO NO No...I am so far from being a pack rat. I'm totally on the other end of the spectrum. A neat freak!! I do not save or hoard anything that I'm not using. My dh on the other hand has tried to save useless things, but it doesn't work with me. Told him to get a storage unit if he wanted to save all that junk. Took many years to convince him...now we both see eye to eye.

Does this seem disrespectful?

I don't know if it's just me getting older but what are your thoughts on an adult child calling their parents by their first name instead of Mom or Dad? I would have never in a million years have done it, but it seems to be more of a common thing now. What are your thoughts?

RE: Coping with beloved pet's death

I'm very sorry to hear of your sudden loss. We still grieve the loss of our Chewy last July, but we have replaced that with fond memories of him. Everytime we go somewhere that we had taken him we always remember the good times that we had with him instead of feeling sad. We often talk about him and his goofy ways and I know that his spirit is still with us. Time will make it easier for you...you must grieve, but it will get better with time.

RE: Thinking of getting a second dog?

We have 3 currently, but they are very small and kept inside with us all the time except for walks and I can tell you that I get more enjoyment watching them play and run around with each other than watching tv. They all eat and drink from the same bowls and it is so funny at times. They stand in line behind each other at the food bowl, the first one takes a few kibbles, runs to the area rug and eats it there, then the next...same thing, each one doing this over and over for about 30 minutes. I free feed mine, but most of their intake of food is around dinner time. We just laugh watching them do their little ritual every night.

RE: Starcraft Antigua 275RBH ?

We are currently on our 2nd Starcraft, both being Homesteads. We have never had a problem with them at all. They are very well made for the money and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

RE: How good is your dogs food?

I'll stick with Eukanuba. I tried Canidae and they picked at it to say the least. I recently changed back to their old food and they eat it with gusto, their coats are again shiny and healthy and they are so much more active. I don't care what star rating it has...we have used it for years on all our dogs and they have all done extremely well on it.

RE: Beagle Puppy (or Two)?

If your getting 2, I would go with a male/male, or male/female combo not 2 females. Females are much more domineering in a pack situation and 2 females may fight sometimes viciously to be the pack leader.

I made that same trip last December from AZ to Ohio then PA and back. Nothing was needed and had no problems finding accomodations either.

RE: Holiday Greeting to you all

My condolences to you both on the loss of your mother. I lost mine last year on Dec 11. It is very difficult to celebrate the holidays when something like that happens. I wish you both Peace and Comfort this holiday season. God Bless...

RE: Good puppy training pads

I've trained all my dogs on puppy pads and have never had any problems and still don't. The key is to train them and not just put the pad down and expect them to use it. Just like going outside...you place them on the pad and not let them leave it until they go, then praise, praise, praise. It's even easier if you have other dogs already trained, as the puppy will follow them and do the same as they do. Now you must be there to supervise and to physically do the training, just as in outside training. If you cannot do that, then crating would probably be the way to go. I probably wouldn't want a larger breed dog going on puppy pads, but all of mine are very small, so it works great for us. Good luck..
